The theme for our next Story Social is ‘My favourite waste of time’.
Come along and tell your story, or just listen to others tell theirs – everyone is welcome, because an appreciative audience is just as important as a storyteller.
YOUR THEME: It could be how you ‘mis-spent your youth’ in a pool hall in Penge, or how you secretly collect train numbers at Clapham Junction on your bank holiday? Whatever it is, we want to hear the story behind it. Was it really a waste of time? Are you still doing it? Do your friends know you do it?
If you are thinking of getting up and having a go, we want you to tell a story, which could be funny, sad, moving, surprising, of a special encounter that changed you in some way. And as your story develops over 5 minutes, perhaps the audience can recognise themselves in it, sharing your moment and learning something about themselves.
If you’ve been to our Story Social before, you’ll know what happens. We get friends, clients and colleagues together to eat and drink (on us) and listen to each other’s stories. Stories matter; they connect us and help us make sense of the world and our experiences. They remind us that challenge and change are part of life, and these are always key themes around the work we do all over the world.
It all takes place on Wednesday 25th April from 6.00pm at the Seven Dials Club, 42 Earlham Street, Covent Garden, WC2H 9LA. Do let me know if you’re planning to come along, and feel free to bring a friend or colleague if you’d like to.
